10th Annual Summer Solstice Celebration
Just spent a balmy evening in the Clinton Community Garden (48th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues – definitely one of New York’s best community gardens, no?) and picked up a flier about a summer solstice celebration happening here tomorrow (June 17, 2006) 1:00 – 5:30pm.
There’s a keynote speaker (Commissioner Adrian Benepe, City of New York Parks and Recreation along with additional park and elected officials); musicians (Ann Belmont, Todd Anderson, Kim Anderson, Carol Lipnik and Faser Hardin performing throughout the day); “What’s Growing in the Herb Garden?” with herbalist Annie Chadwick at 3pm; herb & perennial plant giveaway; activities for kids; watermelons and other refreshments; make a magical herbal amulet; share gardening tips with other gardeners.
Then a Summer Solstice Celebration Circle at 5pm – performed by Circle of Soul.
Antonioni’s L’Avventura is showing at BAM tomorrow too (3, 6, 9pm) but there’s surely room for both. Not a bad day.
